David William Byrd Sr.

BETHANIA Mr. David William Byrd Sr. passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born on March 4, 1927 in Guilford County to the late Nellie Sawyer Byrd and Boyd Adams Byrd Sr. In addition to his parents, Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by a son, David William Byrd Jr.; a sister, Elenor Scott; and a brother, Rodgers Byrd. Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Lorene Carpenter Byrd; son, Richard Byrd; daughter, Cheryl Penn (Bob); three grandchildren: Anagela Creighton (David), Rebecca Kaiser (Andy), and Jessie Appier-Penn; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Callie Kaiser; sister, Jane Newnam; and brother, B.A. Byrd (Vada). A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 11 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Jeff Clawson and Pastor Lloyd Camp officiating.
