David Christian Dease

Mr. David Christian Dease, 65, passed away unexpectedly on August 18, 2013. He was born September 7, 1947 in Augusta, GA to the late Jackson Harold Dease and Jessie Everidge Dease. He was a member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church where he was a member of the Board of Trustees, diener, and a member of the New Friendship Class. He was previously active as a Cub Scout Pack Leader, Assistant Troop leader with the Boy Scouts, and the recipient of the David Zeisberger Scouting award and assorted scouting leadership/service awards. David served in the U.S. Airforce and was awarded the USAF Air Medal, USAF Vietnam Service Medal, and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He retired from AT&T with 30 years of service. David is survived by his loving wife Mitzi Edwards Dease of the home; a daughter, Jennifer Dease of Charleston, SC; three sons, Adam Dease of Rutherfordton, Rev. Zach Dease and fiancée Jamie Thierolf of Mayodan, and Tyler Dease of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Byron and Connor Dease; his beloved step-mother, Oneita M. Dease; a brother, Don Dease and wife Judy of Irmo, SC, and a sister, Dana Haynie of Henderson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with Dr. Worth Green officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to New Philadelphia Moravian Church, 4400 Country Club Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27104 or to Sunnyside Ministries, 319 Haled St., Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
