David Grant Hicks

David Grant Hicks, 72, of Mocksville, NC, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at his home.

He was born on October 8, 1953, to the late Vesta Leroy Hicks and Alta June Long Hicks in Forsyth County, NC.

David was a hard working man his entire life. He had a love for chainsaws, tractors, and working on cars. David was truly a one-of-a-kind man who could build or fix just about anything. He was known to some as "Super Dave", and was not afraid to wear a comforter as a cape. To his grandchildren, he was known as "Opie", and loved taking the kids to the candy store in the "ah oo ga" truck. David's sense of humor has always been amazing and as legendary as his "David Hicks fits". He was a friend to many and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brothers, Terry and Nelson; and brother-in-law, Todd.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda. David was a father to Chris (Kaytee), Derreck (Nicole), Brandi (Simon), and Stephanie; a grandfather to Alexis, Ariana, Shyanne, Jack, Makayla, Bristol, Madilyn, Mason, Henry, and Harrison; a great-grandfather to Noah; a brother to Jan; and an uncle to Leah, Hannah, Robert, and Corey.

A celebration of David's life will be held from 3:00PM to 5:00PM on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at his home. All stories are welcome.
