Mr. David Anderson Jones, 73, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019. David was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a volunteer firefighter at South Fork and was part of the U.S. Air Force, National Guard Division for 7 years. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 32 years of service. David also worked for Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Reserve with 21 years of service and Wake Forest University Police Department with 20 years of service. David faithfully loved and served his savior, Jesus Christ, until God called him home. He unconditionally loved his family and friends, and loyally served his community representing the hands and feet of Jesus. He was born in Rockingham County on July 3, 1945 to the late Elvin Anderson Jones and Ruby Lucille Caudle Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Jones. Surviving are his wife, Lassie Jones of Lexington; daughter, Donna Jones Mills and husband, Bryan of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Matthew Mills and Daniel Mills; brother, Tommy Jones and wife, Doris of Denton; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:45 pm on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 8, 2019 at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Hardy officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. Due to David’s cancer diagnosis he was unable to be a donor, but his wishes were for memorial contributions to be made to Carolina Donor Services at 1430 Westbrook Plaza Dr, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
