David Allen Largen

David Allen Largen, 69, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025, after a lengthy struggle with heart and lung issues. He was born on May 7, 1956, to John E. Largen, Jr., and Mary Ervin Largen. David was a graduate of East Forsyth High School. He was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church for many years, where at a young age he made his profession of faith.

David began his career at R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company where he worked for several years. In February 1994 he began an enjoyable career with the Town of Kernersville where he served as Park Maintenance Supervisor, Facilities Supervisor and Park Maintenance Superintendent. During his tenure he worked on the planning and building of the Ivey Redmond Sports Complex, oversaw the 2004 renovation of Harmon Park, the 2005 renovation of Fourth of July Park, the 2018 improvements of Fourth of July Park, and the creation of the Founders Park in downtown Kernersville. On March 31, 2021, he was recognized by the Town of Kernersville for his professional achievements and significant contributions to the Town.

David enjoyed any kind of work outdoors, including mowing hay fields, raising cattle and riding horses. He would have been a great cowboy in Montana! David could build anything - cabinets, bookcases, tables, and chairs. He inherited this talent from his dad and his Pawpaw, Ervin. Many people are now enjoying the fruits of his labor.

David had many friends during his life. Since his passing, numerous friends have come forward to share with his family all he did for them and how much he meant to their lives. The family would like to say thank you to all who have shared with them during this time.

In addition to his parents and grandparents David is predeceased by his brother, John Largen III. He is survived by his brother, Don; sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Glenn McKinney; sister-in-law, Cindy Largen, all of Kernersville; numerous nieces and nephews; one great-niece; one great-nephew due in February 2026; and special friends, Jason Sapp, Ken Minnix, and the Blanton family.

Visitation will take place from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. In lieu of flowers or memorials the family asks that you please do a kind deed for someone in honor of David.
