David Hugh McGowen

David H. McGowen, age 87 of King, NC passed away peacefully on March 27, 2024 at Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.  David was born in 1936 in West Virginia.  He graduated from West Virginia University and was retired from Procter & Gamble with whom he had a 30-year career in sales.  David was married for 62 years to Ramona Q. McGowen who predeceased him in April of 2023. David was proud of his ability to live independently in his home.   He was an avid reader, loved his yard and enjoyed going to the Stokes County YMCA.  

David is survived by his daughters, Maralee McGowen of Port Charlotte, FL, and Lisa M. Duquette of Gastonia NC; son-in-law Allen Duquette, Grandson David Duquette and wife Diana Duquette of Johnson City, TN and Granddaughter, Alaina Duquette of Philadelphia, PA.  David was most looking forward to the upcoming birth of his great-grandson.

The family wishes to thank the kind and caring staff of Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home for their care and compassion in David’s final days.  At his request, he wished to be cremated and there are no local services planned.  A private Celebration of Life will be held graveside at Tyler Mountain in West Virginia on a date to be determined.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Kate B Reynolds Hospice House or local charity of your choice.
