David S. Plyler, of Clemmons, NC, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026.
David was born on August 26, 1935, to Samuel Stacy Plyler and Josephine Wentz Plyler in Union County, NC. David was a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He was a member of Clemmons United Methodist Church and had served on the administrative board. From 1954 to 1958, David proudly served his country in the United States Air Force 818 Installation Sq. Crash Rescue S.A.C. 98th and 307th Bomber Wing. He was a barber for over 40 years with his best friend Leon Monroe. Always a sports enthusiast, David enjoyed watching and attending various sporting events. He also loved fishing at Morehead City with his son and was an avid golfer. David was known for his vegetable garden and won many ribbons at the Dixie Classic Fair.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Marie K. Plyler; sisters, Stacie Garrison, and Joyce Way; and brother Steve Plyler.
Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Karla Plyler, and Ginger Plyler Matthews; son, John David Plyler (Kim); grandchildren, Georgia Plyler, and William Plyler; and sisters, Dianne Lawrimore (Odell), and Jan Fincher.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Trellis Supportive Care and Bermuda Village.
