Mr. David Elmer Staton, 55, of Winston-Salem died Saturday, February 6, 2016 at his home. He was born February 10, 1960 in Mullins, West Virginia to the late Cecil Ray and Erma Eugenia Mullins Staton. Mr. Staton worked for Bahnson Construction at R.J. Reynolds for many years. He loved travelling, music and taking care of his grandchildren. Mr. Staton was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his loving wife of 19 years, Sherry Adams Staton, of the home; 2 daughters, Mellisa Mabe of Germanton and Meagan Mabe of Black Mountain; 1 son, Jason Mabe of Winston-Salem; 3 grandchildren, Nathan Mabe, Heavan Venable and Katie Smith; 3 sisters, Sharon Sanders of Allen, TX, Ginger Cook of Pineville, WV and Charlotte Milford (Nick) of Richmond, VA; 2 brothers, John Staton of King and Mark Staton (Dawn) of Tobaccoville.
A Celebration of Life will be held 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with military honors by the V.F.W. Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:45PM at the funeral home.
