David Larry Wilson

David Wilson, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. He was born on May 29,1946, to the late Cletus and Nellie Bodenhamer Wilson. David will be remembered for his immense love of animals, particularly his two beloved dogs, Mandy and Zoe. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending his free time hunting and fishing. David was a jokester and loved to make others laugh. Whether it be through a quick-witted comment or through his Elvis impression, he always found a way to lighten the mood and make others crack a smile. David had an artistic side to him. He could build a truck from the ground up with his welding skills and a chihuahua out of snow with pure creativity. He will be missed immensely by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 8 siblings.

Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Doris Wilson; His beloved godchild, Chelsea Harmon; five nieces, Tracy Fortune, Kelly Jones, Hope Haynes, and Tammy Wilson; one nephew, Bubba Cook; along with many other cherished nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his two sisters, Sadie and Linda; his brother, Roger; and sister-in-law, Linda Cook.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, November 9, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA of the Triad at 3163 Hines Chapel Rd, Greensboro, NC 27405, or to the Forsyth County Animal Shelter at 5570 Sturmer Park Cir, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
