On the evening of August 17, 2025, Deacon Daniel Lamont Wolfe passed away at home, peacefully, with his family by his side, after a brief illness.
Deacon Wolfe was born in Forsyth County to John Wade Wolfe Sr. and Lela Dendy Wolfe in Winston Salem, NC on February 7, 1950.
Deacon Wolfe graduated from Paisley High School then proudly served in United States Army in Vietnam where he received an honorable discharge.
Deacon Wolfe graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College where he studied carpentry, graduated from Rutledge Business College where he studied business administration, and attended Winston-Salem Bible College and Vintage Bible College.
Deacon Wolfe retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company following 35 years of service; and retired from the Army Reserves with 20 years of service. Deacon Wolfe also served as a volunteer with United Way. He owned and operated Wolfe and Jackson Group Home and Home Care for 40 years.
Deacon Wolfe met Zelma Jackson-Wolfe, accepted the Lord, and got baptized. He was married to Zelma for 47 years and 8 months. Pastor J. L. Roundtree saw God in him and had him ordained as a Deacon in 1979. Someone in the GEMBA saw his good, trustworthy character and nominated him for a Trustee. We truly thank Emeritus Dwight Hash, Emeritus Mack Mc Connel, Emeritus Dr. Clarence Johnson,
Dr. Bobby Green, Moderator Dr. Darryl McConnell, Vice - Moderator Pastor Calvin Eggleston, and the whole body of GEMBA for their encouraging words on his journey.
Deacon Wolfe loved the Lord; he loved being in the presence of the Lord, the Holy Ghost. He loved working for the Lord; enjoyed Teaching Sunday School and served as Superintendent of the Sunday School at one time at New Unity. He loved Preaching, Teaching and Gospel Singing. He led two of his brothers to Christ. He would say "I Will Bless the Lord at All Times His Praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord the humble shall hear thereof and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt his name together."
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Phillip Wolfe, John Wade Jr., Alred Wolfe, Gloria Brown Hemphill, Joseph Wolfe and Richard Wolfe; cousins, Minie Lee Dendy, Willie J. Dendy, Margaret “Bonnie” Dendy; and a grandson, Terion Da Monte Frazier.
He is survived by his wife Zelma Jackson–Wolfe; two daughters, Tracey Renee Wolfe of Kernersville and LaKenya Frazier of Winston-Salem; granddaughters, Tatyana Drake of Kernersville, Tahpenes Drake of Kernersville; one great-grandson, Taven Dajour Lytch of Kernersville; sister-in-law, Doris Bell Wolfe; nephews, Lorenzo (Tarshia) Wolfe, Ernest (Sabrina) Wolfe, John Brown Jr., Clarence (Debbie) Wolfe, Joseph Clemmons, all of Winston Salem, Donald and Ronald Wolfe of Greenville, SC; nieces, Tracy Wolfe-Strickland, Mary Wolfe (Todd) Walker, Alisa Wolfe (Pastor Andre) Kinkley, Jennifer Wolfe, Delois Wolfe (Pierre) Snipes, Cynthia (Joe) Carmichael, Sherri (Anthony) Aiken Sr., Carla (William) Shelf Sr., all of Winston Salem, NC; cousins, Leroy (Mannie) Dendy Lancaster, SC, George (Janet) Dendy of Wahington, DC.; brothers-in-law, Aubrey S. Jackson III, Willie James Jackson; sister-in-law, Priscilla (Veron) Cloud; godsons, Jarrod Martin, Mark Neal, Joseph Shuff; goddaughters, Brittany Shuff and Brianna Shuff, all of Winston Salem, NC.
Deacon, Sergeant Wolfe, "Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold of eternal life whereunto thou art also called and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses."
A visitation and reception will be held the night before the Celebration of Life service, from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, August 29, 2025, at New Unity Missionary Baptist Church, 2946 Ivy Ave., Winston-Salem, NC. Pastor Willie I. Davidson will give the Eulogy. Pastor J.R. Stowe will be presiding.
Interment with military honors will follow at Gardens of Memory 5676 Old Walkertown Rd., Walkertown, NC. A repass will follow at the Robert F. Miller Center located at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway.
The family wishes to thank God, the doctors, the VA, Duke Medical Center, Novant Health, Wake Forest, and Trellis Supportive Care (formerly Hospice & Palliative Care Center) for your wonderful care provided and your prayers for the Wolfe family.
