Dearl O'neal Hill

Mr. Dearl O’neal Hill, 93, went to join his beloved wife in heaven on Wednesday May 21, 2025. He was born April 14, 1932, in Virginia to the late Robert Hill and Earthel Stoneman Hill. Dearl graduated from Hillsville High School in 1951. After graduation he served in the United States Army from 1952-1955. Dearl spent most of his life as an operations manager for several trucking companies, starting with Hennis Freight Lines. Dearl took great pride in his family, gardening, and flowers. He had one of the most beautiful yards in the neighborhood.

In addition to his parents, he weas preceded in death by his loving wife who passed in January of 2025, Wynona Hill; three brothers; one sister, and two nephews. Dearl is survived by one daughter, Nancy Leonard (Chuck); two sons, Robert M. Hill (Kristin) and Greg Hill; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Dahmer (Carrington), Christopher Hill (Stephanie), Nicole Hill, Taylor McGrath (Alex), Justin Leonard (Meridith), Sami Hitechew (Shane), and Brandon Reagan; and eight great-grandchildren, Kaleigh Leonard, Blake Leonard, Cooper Dahmer, Colton Dahmer, Camden Dahmer, Dean Hitechew, Norah Hitechew, and Caroline Hill; daughter-in-law, Angie Hill; and caregivers, Malinda Hauser and Evelyn. The family would like to thank the Mountain Valley Hospice Team that has helped us care for Dearl for many years, especially Rebecca and CNA Shayna.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2pm on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Rev. Abby Catoe officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 325, Dobson, NC, 27017.
