Starts at 1:00 pm (Eastern time)
With hearts full of love and gratitude, we remember our beloved Mother, Della Mae Kiger Stephens, “Mom Della” who passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at the age of 82. Her life was a gift to everyone who knew her. She was the most courageous, caring, loving, and selfless person, and anyone who met her felt that love immediately. Her kindness had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and at home.
She spent her working career working for the city of Winston-Salem as the Assistant Fair Director at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds, a role she truly loved with her whole heart. She cherished every single moment of those years and took great pride in her work. Throughout the fair, she made many dear friends whom she held close to her heart throughout her life.
She devoted her life to loving others, especially her family. She was the best mother anyone could have ever dreamed of having, steadfast, nurturing, and endlessly giving. It was both an honor and a privilege to be loved by her, and to love her in return.
The world is a better place because she was in it. Her compassion, warmth, and generosity will continue to live on through the lives she touched and the values she instilled in us.
We are deeply grateful for the time God allowed us to spend together. Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in knowing that her love will never leave us. She will be forever missed, forever cherished, and forever loved.
Della was preceded in passing by her parents, her husband and a daughter.
Her memory will be cherished by her son, Brad Hester (Debbie); two grandsons, Ryan Hester and Jacob Hester; and a sister, Louise “Doodle” Williams.
A service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Darian Hester officiating. There will be no formal visitation held.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. A special thank you to the caregivers at Heritage Woods Senior Living and Trellis who loved and cared for her. We are forever grateful.
Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family.
