Denise Moseley, a beloved mother, aunt, friend, and pillar of the Winston-Salem, Lewisville, and Clemmons communities, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Trellis Supportive Care at the age of 67. A woman of deep compassion, strength, and unwavering spirit, Denise left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
At just 19 years old, Denise stepped boldly into entrepreneurship, launching a hair salon in Lewisville, NC in 1977—a time and industry not easily welcoming to young women. But Denise wasn’t one to wait for permission. She built not just a business, but a legacy—a vibrant, ever-evolving space that became a salon, gift shop, artist gallery, and a launching pad for countless stylists and creatives who found their footing under her mentorship. Her entrepreneurial spirit was matched only by her generosity, always lifting others as she climbed. Her last location for Farrago was more than a storefront—it was a homecoming to where it all began, made all the more meaningful by the remarkable women who stood beside her, helping bring her vision to life every day.
Affectionately known as the “life of the party,” Denise was a force—full of light, laughter, and love. Her voice filled a room, her presence warmed it, and her heart reached everyone in it. She had a rare gift for making others feel truly seen and special, often giving that care even when she needed it most herself. She was both fierce and tender, offering tough love because she believed deeply in the potential of others. Whether you were family, a friend, or a client who became family—Denise cheered you on, remembered the details of your life, and expected you to go after your dreams without apology.
She was the youngest of three siblings (Camille Moseley and the late Wayne Moseley), and despite being the baby, she was a protector, a powerhouse, and the heartbeat of her family. To her niece (Charity Tuttle), she was more than an aunt—she was a second mother, a confidante, and a loud voice of support. Her love was never in question; it radiated from her and touched everyone in her orbit.
Denise’s love for her son, Lucas Shore, was unwavering—fierce, protective, and constant, no matter the season of life. Lucas carries with him her strength, wit, and kind heart. She loved him with a fierceness only a mother like Denise could hold, always pushing him to be his best, because she saw the greatness in him. With a quick sense of humor and a heart full of care, he was the center of her universe, and she loved him with a depth and devotion that never wavered.
To know Denise was to be loved boldly. She never missed a holiday, a celebration, or a chance to celebrate or connect with others. Even as cancer took its toll, Denise’s heart never stopped giving. Just weeks before she passed, she pushed through the pain to visit Trader Joe’s, picking out flowers for friends going through tough times and delivering them in person—because that’s just who she was. And on the very day she entered hospice, she asked for thank-you cards so she could let everyone who had shown her kindness know how much it meant. Denise didn’t just talk about love and gratitude—she lived it, right up to the end. She was honest, often hilariously so, and those who knew her appreciated her authenticity and admired her fire. She was a rare blend of grace and grit, beauty and backbone.
She was, simply put, one of a kind.
