Dennis Lynn Barnes

Kernersville – Dennis Lynn Barnes, 74, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was born on December 10, 1951, in Iredell County, NC to the late Bliff and Sarah Weston Barnes. Dennis was a hard worker; once working as a night club bouncer for many years, driver and dispatcher for Same Day Express, and owned and operated Jungleland Pet Store in Kernersville. He loved to keep his mind sharp playing cards and putting togethers jigsaw puzzles. Dennis enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years and was an avid golfer in his latter years. He really loved the beach and beach music. Dennis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who will greatly be missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Kevin Barnes, and Larry Barnes.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 19 years, Allison Barnes; his son, Derrick Barnes, and his wife, Shanea; his grandson, Brantley Barnes; his stepson, Daniel Long, and his partner, Anne; his step grandson, Patrick Long; and two brothers, Terry Barnes, and his wife, Terri, and Brian Barnes.

A visitation will be held at a later date at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.

Little memories flow through my mind, while I wonder what's on his.

Remembering the life we lived , the hope, the fun, the tears.

Watching as he lays perfectly still, chest rising and falling with every struggling breath.

I'm listening to his every breath.

wondering if it will be his last, while wishing that it won't.

He's taken his last breath on Earth , now he's up to Heaven on a gentle breeze.

Now when I look up, he'll be a star in the clear night sky.
