Dennis Bradford Shea, Sr.

Mr. Dennis Bradford Shea, Sr. went to be with his Lord suddenly on September 6, 2016. He was born on March 16, 1942 in Melrose, MA. He was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School in Malden, MA and Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. After graduating college, he went to Officer Candidate School and became a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, serving honorably in Vietnam. He was recommended for and received the Bronze Star for his service to his country. Following his service, he found success in the lumber industry, first alongside his friend Norman ""Norm"" Hansen and later on his own. Later in life he was a successful restaurateur with Putters Steakhouse and Saratoga Steakhouse. Throughout his life Dennis always excelled at anything he put effort into doing. He played high school and college hockey, was the president of the Mu Chapter of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity, a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, owner of Advance Timber Products, the president of the Appalachian Lumbermen's Association, Chairman of Hotel Accommodations for the Crosby Charity Golf Tournament, proprietor of three restaurants, and a lifelong successful horse racing handicapper. He took great pride in hard work and being able to help many people support their families. He is preceded in death by his parents John Joseph Shea, Jr. and Catherine (Pietilainen) Shea, nephew Stephen Shea, and a special friend Kathy Wennerberg. He is survived by his son Dennis Jr. and wife Jessica, son Patrick ""Nick"", brother John J. Shea III, sister Deborah Adams, nieces Leanne Letendre and Casey Adams, nephew John Adams, and a special dog (Jasmine) that he loved dearly. Visitation will be held Sunday September 11, 2016 from 4-6 P.M. at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel in Advance, NC, followed by a bereavement gathering at the Winston-Salem Elk's Lodge. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 12, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Peter Nouck officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory.
