Dewey Dean McGlamery

Together Again:
Dewey Dean McGlamery and Ann Ruth Leonard McGlamery

The family of Dewey and Ann McGlamery invites you to celebrate their lives and enduring love story. After a period of separation following Ann’s passing, they are peacefully reunited.

Dewey Dean McGlamery, 91, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on October 16, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice. Born on December 17, 1934, in Wilkes County, NC, he was known for his work ethic, working for R J Reynolds Tobacco for numerous years before running his own businesses, Stadium Drive Lunch, 109 Pace Station, and later, Sunset Grocery until his retirement; and his love for NASCAR, of course; but his true pride was his family and being a Girl Dad. His Girl Dad adventures started upon returning from being a member of the Army Reserve in Fort Jackson (Thank you for your service, dad) to greet his first girl. Two more girls would soon join his adventures.

His beloved wife, Ann Ruth Leonard McGlamery, age 80, preceded him in eternal rest on May 13, 2019, the day after Mother’s Day. Born on September 3, 1938, in Winston-Salem, NC, she was the heartbeat of the family. She dedicated her life to loving her three girls while working in textiles at Hanes Knitting and Hosiery and Carolina Narrow Fabrics until her retirement. The couple had been married for 62 years.

They are survived by their children, Tammy Fish (Dennie), Robin Choplin (Keith), and Susan Norman (Johnny), and their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Though they left this world at separate times, their lives remained deeply intertwined through the family they built and the love they shared.

We love and miss you, Daddy and Mama. Rest in Heaven.

There will be no services at his request.
