Domingo Gonzalez

STONEVILLE- Domingo Gonzalez Lara, 60, passed at home surrounded by all of his loved ones. Domingo was born on January 5th, 1958 in Amatlan de Jora, Nayarit, Mexico. He was one of seventeen children to Francisco and Maria Guadalupe Gonzalez. He worked hard as a child and at the age of fourteen left Mexico and came to the United States. He migrated to Florida and there he worked in different farms, he later decided to try living in North Carolina. This is where he lived the remainder of his life and where he leaves behind a legacy.
Domingo returned to Mexico after two years of working in Florida to return back to the United States. He had asked his father permission to bring three siblings with him to the United States. The plan changed, he returned with his brother and sisters but also with the lady that would become his wife and mother of his four daughters. Domingo and Antonia Gonzalez celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary in January. They had four daughters, Sonia, Consuelo, Susy, and Maribel. Domingo's family grew over the years and each addition to the family was a blessing to Domingo. He loved and taught each one of his grandchildren value lessons of life.
He was one of a kind and had a heart of gold. While in North Carolina, he worked at different textile, manufacturing facilities. However his true work was by serving our God and performing acts of kindness, giving to the less fortunate, and lived a life of gratitude for his many blessings. He leaves behind a legacy of being a humble, caring, selfless person. He is also known for his unique personality. He was witty, had a great sense of humor. In fact, he was given the nickname Mr. Smiley because he was always smiling, it didn't matter how difficult the situation was. Domingo's kindred spirit will be missed.
Domingo had many hobbies. He enjoyed the outdoors, loved to walk long distances, swim, hike. He loved to cook, he loved to make his family "carnitas". We will never forget the endless summer cookouts with him using a tire rim as a grill.
Domingo was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Maria Guadalupe Gonzalez, sister Celia Ugalde Gonzalez. Surviving are his wife, Antonia Gonzalez and his four daughters, Sonia Sedano and husband Jose Santos.
