Don Gene Barbee, Sr.

Mr. Don Gene Barbee, Sr., 83, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016.

Don was born April 18, 1933 to the late Clarence and Mildred Barbee. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended Lexwin Baptist Church and in his free time, enjoyed watching sports of all kinds and movies. He was a loving father and grandfather and his family will miss him deeply. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Barbee, brother, James Barbee and sister, Lois Hensley.

Don is survived by his children, Donna Vansteinburgh and husband Robert, Daphne Barbee, Don Gene Barbee, Jr. and wife Connie, Karen Garner and husband David, and Mary Tilley and husband Barry; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Lenice Lambeth.

A celebration of Don's life will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 11 am at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Gardens of Memory - Walkertown. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 7 - 9 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
