Donald Gray Caudle, Sr.

Mr. Donald Gray Caudle, Sr., 94, passed away in the comfort of his home on June 26, 2025. He was born in the midst of a snow storm on December 14, 1930, in Forsyth County, to the late Narvie Edgar Caudle and Navada Baker Caudle. Mr. Caudle proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He loved his time of service, but was eager to get home to marry his high-school sweetheart, Imogene. They would go on to spend 65 wonderful years together. Together they would have three children whom he was truly proud of (and he would tell anyone who would listen that). He valued family and faith most. He was a lifelong member of Crestwood Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and on various other committees. His entire life he loved sports. Whether that was playing baseball, football, and basketball at Hanes High School, going on to be the head coach of a National Championship Pop Warner football team, or sitting at home watching the Braves and Wake Forest. He spent most of his career working for GMC, and was a nationally award winning Sales Manager. He loved Emerald Isle more than anywhere in the world. His version of paradise was fishing with his friends, and spending time with his family by the ocean. He was full of common sense, soft-hearted to his grandkids, and never afraid to speak the truth about what’s right. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Especially by his loving kids, and those who were lucky enough to call him “Paw Paw”.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Aaron Caudle. He is survived by his children: Donald Gray Caudle, Jr. (Carol), Melody Caudle Vaughn (Gary), and Daryl Lane Caudle (Donna); grandchildren; Lindsey (Ben), Gillian (Luke), Steven (Stephanie), Noel (Billy), Katie, Tori, Morgan (Jordan), and Haley; great-grandchildren: Ember, Benson, Charlie, Teddy, Willow, Gray, and Lane; and extended family. A special thanks to his favorite nurse, Danna, and daughter-in-law, Carol, for going above and beyond to ensure he was well cared for until the very end. He wanted to peacefully pass in the comfort of his own home, and was able to because of their unwavering support. He spoke often in admiration of their hearts of service. They were his angels here on earth.
