Donald Ray Obermeier

On May 22, 2024, Donald Ray Obermeier passed away at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. Don was born in Evansville, Indiana, on December 9, 1946. After graduating college, he married Glinda in 1967. They lived in Indiana, Mississippi, and finally North Carolina with their two children. He enjoyed sports, landscaping, caring for his dog, joking with everyone and spending time with his family. Especially driving his wife crazy riding the grandkids around on anything she felt was too dangerous. 

He is survived by his wife, Glinda; son, Tony Obermeier (Candace) of Clemmons; daughter, Angie Simmons (Donnie) of Advance; three grandchildren, Michael Tony Honeycutt, Addison Obermeier, and Evan Obermeier; one sister, Sandy Tyler (Brad) of Cadiz, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Jeanne; and three brothers, Jerry, Dave, and Ed Obermeier. 

There will never be another like Don Obermeier, and he will remain in our hearts forever until we meet again. Our family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and caring, especially the doctors and nurses at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
