Donald Lee Rowe

Donald Lee Rowe, 86, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away Monday, January 29, 2024.  He was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed.

Donald (Don) was born August 14, 1937, in Lexington, NC. He attended Mineral Springs Schools and graduated from Griffith High School in 1956.  He then joined the U.S. Army where he was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas.    The specialized training he received opened doors in the avionics industry leading him to a career at Piedmont Airlines/US Airways until retiring in 1994.

After retiring, he accepted a position as the Administrator of Vernon Forest Baptist Day School. He enjoyed fulfilling any role for which the Lord had called him and opened doors for his service, such as:  finance committee, sunday school teacher, usher, and deacon. Don was also an avid runner, loved the beach, trips to the mountains, and spending time with his family.

Don leaves behind his wife, Loraine S. Rowe.  He was preceded in death by his father, L.C. Rowe (1979); mother, Bernice P. Rowe (2006); wife of 50 years, Jo E. Rowe (2006); and sister, Hilda R Widener (2017).   In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Ronald L. Rowe, and daughter Donna R. Goodman (Neil).  He is also survived by three grandchildren he loved dearly, Brett N. Goodman (Juliet) of Charlotte, Caitlin R. Goodman (William) of Advance, and Jennifer M. Rowe of Durham.

A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, February 3, at 12:00 noon, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 3250 High Point Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
