Mr. Donald “Don” E. Tedder, Sr. age 87 of Clemmons, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025 at his home. He was born June 21, 1938 in Fairmont, NC to the late Clarence Lee Tedder and Margerette Bell Mitchell Tedder.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Usher Tedder; two sons, Donald Tedder, Jr. and wife Ann of Indian Trail and Michael Tedder and wife Judy of Winston-Salem; his grandchildren, Ben Tedder, Josh Davis (Yolanda), Josh Bailey (Erica), Cameron Dilley; great grandchildren Alyssa Dilley, Rowan Bailey, Mia Davis; brother Randall Tedder. Don had many nieces and nephews who called Uncle Donald their favorite.
A graduate of Fairmont Hight School and attended High Point University. Don volunteered for the draft and proudly served his country in the US Army 2nd Armored Division. He was certified by the US Army Signal School and served as a radio operator. After being discharged he was recalled during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Don began his career with Piedmont Airlines at Grannis Field in Fayetteville where he met Faye. In 1970 they moved to Winston-Salem when the reservations systems were consolidated and computerized. He helped train reservationists and station personnel to use the new system. Other than training he held other management positions in reservations. When he retired, he was manager of Reservations Planning. He treated fellow employees with respect and fairness.
After retiring from Piedmont, he found several jobs to occupy his time. Among those were working at the Par 3 at Tanglewood and at Burns Aerospace. He and Faye with help of their sons opened and operated a Sears Dealer store in Lexington.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, November 14, 2025 at Clemmons Presbyterian Church led by Pastor Troy Lesher-Thomas and Pastor Travis Milam. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Clemmons Presbyterian Church, 3930 Clemmons Rd, Clemmons, NC 27012.
