Donna "Waydell" Hudson Alley Bowen

Donna “Waydell” Hudson Alley Bowen, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Trinity Glen Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born in Rockingham County on April 30, 1939, to Wade T. and Rose Leonard Hudson. She was a faithful member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church and was a previous member of Sharon United Methodist Church in Supply, NC. Donna retired from Lucent Technologies after many years of service. After retirement, Waydell enjoyed spending time at Holden Beach admiring the view of the Intercoastal Waterway and fishing. She loved to cross stitch, make jewelry, and read. Waydell also enjoyed cooking and sharing her recipes with family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, Waydell was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Clyde Robert Bowen, Jr. and her sister, Marilyn Hudson Moore.

Left to cherish her memory are three children, Angela Alley Pegram (husband, Jerry), Clyde Robert Bowen, III and Tammy Hardy; six grandchildren, Seth Pegram (wife Jenn), Jessica Bowen, Brianna Clemens (husband Wayne), Curtis Bowen, Brooke Hardy, and James Hardy; and six great-grandchildren, Owen Pegram, Luke Pegram, Noah Pegram, Wade Pegram, Stetson Clemens, and Kailani Bowen.

A funeral service for Waydell will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Coppley and Samantha Wesley officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 1:45 prior to the service at the church. A private burial will be held at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Morris Chapel Preschool Playground Fund at 2715 Darrow Road, Walkertown, NC 27051. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family.
