Doris Braun

Doris Margaret (Veitengruber) Braun, 96, of Winston-Salem, NC, departed this world to be with Jesus on Saturday, July 23, 2022.  Doris was born on April 24th, 1926, in Frankenmuth, MI to the late Norman and Hulda Veitengruber.
She met her future husband, Robert Braun, at Holy Cross Lutheran church and school.  They met in kindergarten and even went to the senior prom together, after which Bob was involved with the armed forces when WWII broke out.  Doris and Bob were married on July 10, 1948 and were blessed with 56 years together until his passing.  Together they had four children, 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
We are all in agreement that we were blessed with a wonderful, kind, and loving Mother and Grandmother.  She was also an excellent homemaker, seamstress and enjoyed crafts and hobbies with her friends.  She was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran church, and most importantly loved her Lord and prayed for many of us daily – a truly dedicated prayer warrior!  She will be greatly missed.  We would like to thank Cadence Assisted Living and Trellis Hospice for their special care.
In addition to Doris’ parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Lynn Braun (Bambi); grandson, Timmy Gruenbaum; and sister, Mildred Ruppel (Bob).  She is survived by three children: Marsha Gruenbaum (Phil), Judy Towery (Mike), and Martin Braun (Ailsa); ten grandchildren, Holly, Wes, Katy, Autumn (Phil), James (Susie), Mollie (Neel), Laura (Matt), Ben, Heidi, and Heather; six great-grandchildren: Lillie, Solomon, Emma, Everly, Ruby, and Abby; and three special sisters-in-law: Marilyn Kurn, Lois Braun, and Maryann Preisinger.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 27th at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Clocker and Pastor Phil Gruenbaum officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church and School, 2415 Silas Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC 27103; Lutheran Hour Ministries, 660 Mason Ridge Center Drive, St. Louis, MO 63141; or a charity of your choice.    Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
