Doris Ann Vaught Buchanan

Mrs. Doris Ann Vaught Buchanan, age 82 of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.  Doris was born December 18, 1940, in Wythe County VA to the late Charles Walker Vaught and Rosa Heldreth Vaught.  She was a loving wife, a wonderful mother and a proud grandmother who had a quick wit and a heart of gold.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Morris “Buck” Buchanan and a brother, Dickie Vaught. Surviving are one daughter & son-in-law: Valerie & Mark Alexander of Winston Salem, NC; one son & daughter-in-law: Kevin & Karen Buchanan of Aiken, SC; three grandchildren: Ross Alexander, Connor Buchanan & Eva Buchanan; brother Ronnie Vaught (Vicki), sister, Linda Porter (Jerry) and several nieces and nephews.  Also surviving are a special aunt, Janie Alley and cousin, Norma Jean Armbrister.  A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Rose Lawn Cemetery, 4410 Lee Highway, Marion VA 24354 with the Rev. Paul Brown and the Rev. Kara Chamberlain co-officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lewisville United Methodist Church, Sanctuary Renovation Fund, 6290 Shallowford Rd.
