Mrs. Doris McDaniel Gaither, 79, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at her home. She was born on July 22, 1938 in Davie County to William and Sallie Leonard McDaniel. Mrs. Gaither retired from Sears after 29 years of service. She attended Davie High School where she was an excellent student. She had always been athletic and enjoyed playing basketball with her grandchildren when she was able. She was a passionate sports fan and she pulled for the Atlanta Braves. She was an excellent cook and an avid gardener. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby L. Gaither; three brothers, Junior, John, and Joe; two sisters, Ruth and Marie. Surviving are four children, Sabrina (James) Sidden, Jeff (Amy) Gaither, Regina (Tom) Gaither, Daniel (Melonie) Gaither; five grandchildren, Jeffrey, Robert (Cassidy), Emily, Erica (Josh), Victoria; one great granddaughter, Lorelei; three siblings, Frank, Betty, Loraine (Bob); and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon, on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Doug Klein officiating. Entombment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forsyth Humane Society, www.forsythhumane.org.
