Doris Lucille Wheeling Hansley, age 85, entered the immediate presence of her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, February 17, 2019 at Trellis Supportive Care’s Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC.

Doris was born on July 6, 1933 to Ernest McCoy and Mildred Magdalene Hicks Wheeling in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  She graduated from Gray High School with the Class of 1951.  She spent her entire life serving and helping others however she could.  Her professional career began in 1951 as a keypunch operator with Wachovia Bank, resigning in 1958 to become a fulltime mother.  She entered the workforce again in 1968 as a teacher’s aide at Easton Elementary School and retired from Easton as the lead secretary in 1994.

Doris dearly loved her church and church family.  She was currently a member of Calvary Moravian Church.  Over the course of her lifetime, she served at various churches as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Band Member, Diener, and Church Treasurer.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Linwood Bryant Hansley; and two brothers, Joseph Lindsey Wheeling and Larry Douglas Wheeling.

She is survived by a daughter, Annette Hansley Sipe, and husband Randy of Grimesland, NC; a son, John Bryant Hansley, and wife Rhoda of Winston-Salem, NC; a grandson, Peter Wilson Blum, IV of Cookeville, TN; and many other loving family members and friends.

A Moravian graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at 2:30 p.m. in the Cremains Section of God’s Acre.  The service will be conducted by The Right Reverend Lane A. Sapp, and accompanied by the Moravian Band.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Moravian Church, Senior Services of Forsyth County, Trellis Supportive Care, or an organization of the donor’s choice.
