Doris Lou Hawkins Kiser, 77, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday October 5, 2014. She was born to Robert C. Hawkins and Daisy Fulp Hawkins October 26, 1936 in Stokes County. Doris was a long time member of Marshall Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, was in the ladies circle, attended Prime Timer activities, and sang with her family. Over the years, Doris enjoyed bowling, gardening and was a stellar seamstress and homemaker. She did flower arranging and cake decorating, made preserves and canned vegetables. She was an artist and especially took pleasure in painting. Doris enjoyed attending Bible studies and gospel singings at Priddy Manor where she lived. She worked for Hanes Hosiery, Belk Portrait Studio, and Grand View Grocery. At various times, Doris was also caregiver to her mother, her brother, her nephew and her beloved husband, Reggie. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, James Reginald (Reggie) Kiser, sisters, Iris L. Hawkins, Patty Sue Hawkins Helsabeck, brothers, Jack A. Hawkins and Robert ""Pete"" Hawkins. She is survived by three daughters, Debbie Kiser Jones (Delmer) of King, Dawn Kiser Sides(Mike) of Orlando, and Amy Kiser of Durham; six grandchildren, Carrie Jones, Kevin Jones(Casey), Caleb Sides, Hannah Sides, Abigail Sides and Timothy Sides; and two great-grandchildren, Landon Hall and Madelyn Hall. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Marshall Baptist Church in Winston-Salem with Pastor John Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. this evening at Marshall Baptist Church.
