Doris Ann Bowers Swiger

KERNERSVILLE -- Doris Ann Bowers Swiger, 81, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Bradford Village West. Doris was born on February 17, 1932 in West Virginia to James and Lucy Griffin Bowers. She loved crafts, especially painting and quilting. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Roy Ernest Swiger; one brother, James L. Bowers; two sisters, Virginia B. Johnson and Kay B. Wheeler. Surviving are one sister, Lillian B. Leaseburg of Charleston, WV; nine nieces; two nephews; great nieces and nephews; twelve cousins; and one aunt, Edith Griffin Dresher of Maryland. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Arken Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
