Dorothy Reid Harlan

Dorothy R. Harlan, 92, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

She was born on July 28, 1930, in Charlotte, NC, to the late Claude W. Reid and Edith Reid. She graduated from Carolina Business School in Charlotte and was a secretary for several years. She was also a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Harlan; and her only sister, Margaret R. Helms. She is survived by her two sons, David Harlan of Winston-Salem, NC, and Thomas (Beth) Harlan of Midlothian, VA; granddaughter, Maribeth Harlan, also of Midlothian, VA; two nieces, Janet (Jim) Lowrey of Winston-Salem, NC, and Joan Hoover of Charlotte, NC.

A funeral service will be held for Dorothy on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

The family extends their sincere appreciation to all of the staff at Homestead Hills Assisted Living for their loving care over the last six years, and the compassionate care provided in her final days by Trellis Supportive Care.
