Dorothy Faye Shouse McNew

Mrs. Dorothy Faye Shouse McNew, 81, passed away Thursday August 20, 2026. She was born on March 10, 1945, in Forsyth County, NC to the late David Shouse and Roxanne Gwyn Shouse. Dorothy’s passion for many years was painting. She painted houses, churches and many other buildings throughout her career. She received several awards from Parade of Homes for her stain work. Dorothy was known for her homemade banana pudding and homemade biscuits. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s events. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Reginald “Butch” Walker; brother, Bobby Gwyn; and sister, Judy Cavanaugh. Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, B’Tina Hopkins (Wayne) and Lucinda “Cindy” Walker (Barry); four grandchildren, Brandon Sargent (Britney), Brittany Bernstein (Michael); Kenize Sargent (Kendal), and Justin Hopkins (Audrey); seven great-grandchildren, Leah Hopkins, Walker Bernstein, Levi Bernstein, Jason Hopkins, Presley Sargent, Emma Sargent, and Kenley Hiott; two brothers, Kenneth Shouse (Susan) and David Shouse; special friend Jenny Bernstein; and numerous sister in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2pm Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour prior to the service.
