Dorothy Settle Speaks

Mrs. Dorothy Settle Speaks, 98, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 9, 2026. She was born on April 10, 1927, in Forsyth County to the late Mr. Barney Settle and Mrs. Geneva Crotts Settle.

Dorothy graduated from Gray High School and went on to be a sales associate in retail for many years. After retirement she loved to travel and go to the beach, spending many vacations with her daughter and son-in-law. She enjoyed cooking for her family and tending to her flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her sister, Norma Kennedy; her brother, Harold Settle; and a brother-in-law, Loke Kennedy.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Vickey Pitts (Gary); a son Todd Johnson (Karen); two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Settle (Linda); and a host of extended family.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. There will be no formal visitation held.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of Trellis Supportive Care for their compassion and care given to Dorothy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel is serving the family.
