Dorothy Louise Whicker

Miss Dorothy Louise Whicker, 90, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born February 20, 1919 in Forsyth County to Ernest Bruce and Virginia Campbell Whicker. Miss Whicker was a graduate of Hinshaw Beauty School in North Wilkesboro, N.C. in 1936. She owned and operated Whicker's Beauty Shop from 1936 until her retirement in 2005. She was a member of College Park Baptist Church since February 1, 1959 where she was a member of the College Parker's Senior Group and the Joyful Sunday School Class. She also attended Bible Study Fellowship International for 8 years. Miss Whicker loved to travel and cook for her family. It was her pleasure to make people feel good about themselves and was a praying person who loved Jesus. Surviving is a niece, Deborah Elmore and husband Stephen of Pfafftown; great nephews, Nathan Elmore and wife Mary of Shelby, Aaron Elmore and wife Sarah of Littleton, CO, and Lee Elmore of Pfafftown. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 12 at College Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Ramon Smith and Dr. Charles Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 11 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
