Dr. Leonard P. Allred, Jr.

Leonard Pegram Allred, Jr. was promoted on December 7, 2016 to his first million years of glory with Jesus, his Savior Whom he has loved and served for 68 years. He was born in Greensboro, NC on February 2, 1931 to the late Leonard and Elizabeth Allred, Sr. After giving his life to the Lord at the age of 17, he accepted the call to full-time Christian ministry. He graduated from Columbia Bible College in 1953 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He attended Faith Seminary for one year before moving to Bristol, TN where he served as Pastor at Ryder Memorial Presbyterian Church while also teaching at Graham Bible College. In 1957, he became Pastor at Evangelical Methodist Church in Gaston, NC where he served for seven years. Leonard married the love of his life, Wilma, on February 3, 1959. He attended Bob Jones University where he earned his Master's degree in 1966 and his Ph.D. in 1968. He moved to New Jersey to join the faculty of Northeastern Collegiate Bible Institute in Essex Falls where he spent the next eight years teaching, as well as serving as part-time Minister of Education at Brookdale Baptist Church.In 1976, Leonard answered a call to teach at Piedmont Bible College in Winston-Salem, NC where he joyfully taught for the next 30 years before retiring in 2006. He was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church where he served for many years as Director of Education. Dr. Allred was a gifted artist, traveling to different venues in his early years of ministry offering ""chalk talks."" He loved taking his grandchildren fishing, setting up indoor tents for overnight visits, and celebrating Christmas when the whole family was gathered together. He is survived by his precious wife, Wilma; their two devoted daughters, Ruth (Randy) Tesh and their daughters, Quinn (Clint) Little and Mica; and Kim (Russell) Bolton and their three children, Lee, Mitchel, and Eunhae; two brothers, Doug (Cindy) Allred and Ronnie (Virginia) Allred; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10 at Salem Baptist Church, 429 South Broad Street in Winston-Salem, followed by a private family graveside service. The family will receive visitors on Friday, December 9 at Hayworth Miller on Silas Creek Parkway from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Grace Baptist Bible College at 5739 Old Rural Hall Road, Suite A, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
