Dr. Hoyle Eugene Bowman

Dr. Hoyle Eugene Bowman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, ordained minister, and friend, went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. He was born on November 1, 1927 to Albert and Carrie Bowman. His first years were lived in Granite Falls, NC. He left there in 1944 to serve his country in the Merchant Marines and the US Marine Corps. During his military service in WWII, he had the distinct honor of serving as personal body guard to two Admirals in the South Pacific. Upon returning, Hoyle followed the call of the Lord into full-time ministry. He attended Piedmont International University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology, Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas receiving a Masters degree in Theology. After several years serving in a pastorate, he returned as professor of theology to Piedmont International University where he taught and served faithfully for the last 51 years. During those 51 years as teacher, he earned a Doctorate of Theology from Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana, and served not only as speaker and teacher to many churches within the country, but also as speaker and teacher for missionary conferences internationally. Hoyle was an avid gardener whose joy came from sharing with everyone and he also enjoyed hunting. Preceding him in death are five sisters and one brother. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lucille Seitz Bowman; his daughter, Janice Ward of Winston-Salem and husband, Paul; grandchildren- Jessica Ward, Preston Ward and wife, Mandy, and Justin Ward of Charlotte; great grandchildren - Paxton and Payton Ward of Concord and their mother, Jessica Ward. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Salem Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Wilburn and Dr. Charles Petitt officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Hoyle Bowman Memorial Fund c/o Vernon Brady, 420 S. Broad Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
