Dr. Lenore Yvonne Parks, 48, of Winston-Salem, passed away unexpectedly on August 17, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Health Center. Lenore was born on September 6, 1963 in Rochester, New York. Lenore was an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics with Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She was a member of a section of the Department of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. Lenore was a Clinical Chief of Pediatrics at the Downtown Health Plaza where she provided medical care to underprivileged children and also taught medical students and residents. She was very instrumental and worked tirelessly to keep the Reach Out & Read Program going at the Downtown Health Plaza, which provided books to underprivileged children. Lenore didn't view her job as ""work"", she saw it as a privilege to serve her community, especially those in need, through her medical expertise. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt to her entire family and will be sorely missed. Her faith in God and hope in Heaven is now her joy and our comfort. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Horsey Parks. Surviving are her father, Norman Howard Parks and wife Carole of Asheville; her husband, James Cecil Koon III of the home; a son, Westley Rikard Koon also of the home; her sisters, Cheryl Parks Burleson and husband Tony and Jennifer Parks Boice and husband Darren; a brother, John Parks; a niece, Emmerette Boice, all of Asheville; nephews, Dustin Burleson and wife Laura of Fayetteville, Grant Burleson and Connor Boice of Asheville.
