Mr. Druey William Hedgecock, 89, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on April 20, 1929 in Forsyth County to Raymond Casper and Luvada Hooker Hedgecock. Druey was married to the late Carolyn Everhart Hedgecock from 1948 until her death in 2001. He had many interests in his life and enjoyed making things of leather. Druey loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He worked at Western Electric and United Engineering. He retired and owned his own business until his death. Druey went all over the world serving as a mechanic and an engine fireman in the United States Navy for four years on The USS Midway aircraft carrier. He had two special little dogs that he loved dearly, Cricket and Daisy.

In addition to his parents and wife, Druey was proceeded in death by his son, Tony Hedgecock; his brother, Thurman Hedgecock; two sisters, Margaret Smith and Edna Pesca; and a very special friend, Betty Noah. He is survived by his daughter, Sherrie Hedgecock Fowler (husband, Tim); five grandchildren, Jason Hedgecock, Tonya Hedgecock Berrier (husband, Jamie), Samantha Fowler Joyce (husband, Patrick), Timothy Cole Fowler, and Shay Lynn Fowler; five great grandchildren, Hayley Berrier Marion, Jamie Christian Berrier, Pacey Berrier, Nathan Hedgecock, and Zack Hedgecock; and daughter in law, Susan Howell. There are many extended family members and children who call him “Paw Paw”. We all love him and will miss him greatly.

A funeral service for Druey will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 28, 2019 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with Pastor Mark Hollar officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
