Dulaney Glen, M.D., of Pfafftown, NC, died on August 4, 2025, after 91 remarkable years.
Dulaney Glen was born on January 3, 1934, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Maxwell and Mary Sue Glen, and moved to New York City in 1941. He attended Trinity School, Phillips Exeter Academy, and Yale University, where he completed a ROTC program to be a commissioned officer in the US Air Force. At the age of 21, he married his sweetheart, Wendy Walker of Syosset, NY. They were blessed with seven children, three sons and four daughters.
In their first three years together, he served in the Air Force, culminating as a navigator and electronic countermeasures officer on a B-52 in SAC. For the next three years he worked at Wall Street investment banking firm Kuhn Loeb & Co., leaving the firm to pursue a medical career. A member of the Class of 1967 at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University, Dr. Glen served for three years as Chief Resident at St. Luke’s Hospital in Manhattan and went on to practice internal medicine at the North Shore Medical Group in Huntington, NY.
In 1979, he and his family moved from Syosset, NY to a farm in Pfafftown, NC, where he kept a herd of Angus-Hereford cattle while continuing to practice medicine as an internist at RJR’s Winston-Salem Health Care until his retirement in 1995.
Dr. Glen enjoyed the past thirty years as husband, father, grandfather, and loyal friend, engaging his various passions: tending his herd and the hundreds of plants in and outside his greenhouse, playing piano, bushhogging his fields, staying in touch with old friends, doing crossword puzzles, and absorbing an impressive range of news sources.
Since childhood, he entertained countless family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers with his piano playing, amassing a repertoire of 2000+ songs – from jazz standards to military cadences to school fight songs to sentimental ballads – all entirely by ear. More recently, Dr. Glen drew particular joy playing for his fellow patients and staff at the Davis Center at Forsyth Hospital.
Dr. Glen is survived by his wife of 69 years, Wendy Walker Glen; children Robert, Mark, Elizabeth (Lisa), Léonie, Melissa, Michael, and Julie; sixteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
The family welcomes all who share in their love and admiration for Dr. Glen to join them at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel for a brief service followed by a time of visitation concluding at 12 p.m.
