Dura Mae Venable

EAST BEND -- Mrs. Dura Mae Venable, 79, died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. Dura was born on April 29, 1934 in Forsyth County to the late Joel Elijah and Doris Irene White Calhoun. Dura was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Dura was preceded in death by a brother, Joel Calhoun, Jr. Surviving are her husband, James Calvin 'JC' Venable of the home; two sons, Keith Venable and Eddie Venable (wife, Susan ); three grandchildren, Amy V. Nifong (husband, Sam), April Newsome (husband, Thomas) and Brayden Venable; one great grandchild, Hallie Elizabeth Nifong; two brothers, Jack Calhoun and Jerry Calhoun (wife, Brenda) all of Kernersville; and special friends, Barbara Simmons and Evon Holder. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. William Hamric officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
