Dyrk Dean Garrison, 70, of Pinnacle, NC went to be with his heavenly Father on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born on February 16, 1948, in Forsyth Co. to the late Eva Vernelle Campbell Garrison and Dyrk McDonald Garrison.  Dyrk Dean was a Master Mason for 41 years.  He was initiated into the Masonic Lodge at Kernersville Lodge #669, on Jan. 3, 1977, and raised to Master Mason on Jan. 31, 1977, at same.  He was then elected to Pilot Lodge #493 A.F. & A.M., on February 14, 2000 where he served as Past Master and has been an active member until his recent illness.  He was also a member of and current Worthy Patron of Pilot Mountain Chapter #23, Order of the Eastern Star and dual member of Copeland Chapter #22, O.E.S.  He retired from Surry County Building and Grounds in 2014.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed having fun with his family and friends.  He is too loved to ever be forgotten.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Wayne Garrison, Sr.  Surviving are his wife, Melanie Monnette Garrison; two sons, Spencer Dean Garrison of Boone and William Heath Garrison (Sabrina Nixon) of Mount Airy; a daughter, Dana Garrison Sechrist (Stephen Fuller) of Pilot Mountain; a step-son, Billy Joe Collins, Jr. (Nina Collins) of Roaring River; a step daughter, Jennifer Diane Davis ( Lindell Davis, Jr.) of Mount Airy; four grandchildren: Katarina Sechrist, Tristen Sechrist, Randle Colton Collins, and Ayilan Garrison, four step-grandchildren: Angel Quesinberry, Isaac Collins, Megan Collins and Piper Collins;  a sister, Donna Garrison Smith (Greer Smith) of Wallburg; and several loving nieces and nephews; as well as two fur babies, Wicket and Weechee.  A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Shoals Baptist Church, 4112 Shoals Road, Pinnacle, NC, with Pastor Tommy Martin officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family would like to say a special thank you to the care givers at Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care in Pilot Mountain, NC for their loving care and support during Dyrk Dean’s final days.
