Earline Whitt Johnson

Mrs. Earline Gourley Whitt Johnson, 88, of Pine Knoll Shores, formerly of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away Friday, November 14, 2014 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, NC. She was born September 27, 1926 in Forsyth County to Effie and Robert Gourley. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and attended Frank Shumate's Sunday School Class. She retired from Wachovia Bank in 1985 and was preceded in death by her first husband, Isaac William Whitt; her second husband, Lawrence E. Johnson; two brothers, Robert Gourley and Clarence Gibson; one grandson, Kevin Bennett and a great grandson, K.C. Bennett. Surviving are six children, Diane Bennett, Lynne Bray, Sue Money (Steve), Debbie Ferrell (Hank), Robert Whitt (Kim) and Sherri Tickle (Chris); 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Roberson and Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
