Earnestine Wood

Mrs. Earnestine B. Wood, 90, of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019.

Earnestine was born January 9, 1929 in Virginia to Richard and Nancy Boone. She worked for many years assisting patients in home health care. She was a strong free-spirited individual and a lifelong learner, she loved to grow.  She had very strong and outgoing personality and commanded respect. Always loving and thoughtful, Earnestine had the uncanny ability to cook the perfect, grow the perfect, garden, nurture animals and select the perfect the greeting card for every occasion.  She enjoyed cartoons. and would always remind her family and friends to "never give up".  She loved the Lord and attended First Church Winston-Salem and Winston Salem First.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Solomon Wood, sisters, Alverta, Laura, Margaret, Cosie and brothers, Wilson and John.

Earnestine is survived by her sisters, Sarah Benton and Arlie Boone; brother, James Boone; and a host of beloved and numerous other family members.

The family will receive friends from 11 AM – 1 PM on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.  Earnestine will be interred at Salisbury National Cemetery.
