Edgar "Eddie" Allen Butt

Mr. Edgar “Eddie” Butt, 66, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born May 20, 1958, in Forsyth County, NC to the late John Marvin Butt and Margaret Hendrick Butt. He worked for Tyco (Amp) for 35 years. Following that career, he completed 10 years’ of service before retiring from Taylor Brothers (RJR). 

Eddie was a faithful member of Woodland Baptist Church since he was 9 years old. He started serving in the bus ministry when he was 19 years old and eventually became the director and served for more than 20 years. He was recently awarded the Woodland Baptist Church Bus Ministry Driver of The Year Award for his love and dedication to the ministry. In addition, he served as a deacon of the church since 1985. His love for the Lord was first in his life. Eddie was the happiest when he was around his family. He loved making memories on family trips and holiday get togethers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his niece, Kimberly Gentle.

He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Butt of 47 years; two children, Elizabeth O’Ferrell (Chris) and Melinda Eury (Scot); 4 grandchildren, Madison and Carson O’Ferrell, Jared Sisk, and Hannah Eury; one sister, Marcella Cooke; one nephew, Kevin Gentle (Emily); great-niece, Maya, and great-nephew, Mavrick.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11am Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Woodland Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Gammons and Rev. David Aldridge officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown, NC. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday Evening, September 3, 2024 at Woodland Baptist Church.
