Mrs. Edith Mary Norton ""Edie"" Jackson, 73, passed away October 14, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. She was born in Clayton, GA on May 8, 1943 the daughter of the late Tate Norton and Dovie Gibson Norton Motley. Edie graduated from New London High School after moving to NC following the death of her father. She attended Business College in Salisbury, NC. Edie went to work for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, MD in 1967 and worked in Baltimore and San Francisco until 1988. She met and married Lloyd Jackson in 1975. Upon Lloyd's retirement, they relocated to Rural Hall in 1999. Edie's passion in life was gardening. She received recognition as a Master Gardener from the Forsyth Co. Agriculture Extension and the Arboretum at Tanglewood Park. She was at her happiest working in her gardens. Edie is survived by her husband of 41 years, Lloyd Jackson of the home; a son, Steven Brown of Decatur, IA; a sister, Frances Thompson of Germanton and a brother, Euber Norton of Albemarle, NC. At Edie's request there will be no formal services.
