Edna Whicker Mayes

Mrs. Edna Faye Whicker Mayes, 77, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017 at Universal Healthcare in King, N.C. She was born March 14, 1940 in Forsyth County to the late Charlie Wilburn Whicker, and Agnes Roberta Whicker. Edna was employed by Pilot Freight Carrier for 17 years. Later, she worked at Sara Lee Corporation for an additional 8 years. Edna was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Mayes; two children, Michael Tedder, Mindy Tedder Marshall (Kenny); three step children, Kirk Mayes (Leigh), Wendy Oglesby (Rob), Kent Mayes (Kristy); nine grandchildren; one sister, Edith Mayes; one aunt, Ruth Granger. A private graveside service for the family will be conducted by Rob Oglesby. Family will receive friends 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. Monday, May 15, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel Rural Hall. A special Thanks to Donna and Megan, and the staff at Universal Healthcare for the care given to Edna during her sickness.
