Edna Moore Tilley

Edna Mae Moore Tilley went to her heavenly home on June 28, 2025. Born August 10, 1938, in Rockingham County to the late Floyd Lester Moore and Beulah Mae Ramsey. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church and a charter member of Piney Grove Volunteer Fire/Rescue for 32 years, volunteering in the Ladies Auxiliary, Rescue Squad, EMT, and firefighter. She was the first volunteer female firefighter certified in Forsyth County.

Edna enjoyed working in her flower garden, cooking and sewing. She was dedicated to her family and serving in and around her community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Tilley; sisters: Dorothy Wall, Yvonne Sands, Mary Anna Hudson; brothers: James Moore, Billy Moore, Floyd Lee Moore.

She is survived by son, Barry Tilley (Jeannie), daughter, Tammy McKinney (Wayne); grandchildren, Jonathan (Ali), Meredith (Billy), Meagan (Ben), Perry, and Katelyn (Darren); great-grandchildren, Emerson, Easton, Reid, Forrest, and Hayes. Also surviving sister, Brenda Holt (Kenny), brother, Douglas Moore (Nancy); brother-in-law, “Buck” Wall, and sister-in-law, Judy Moore; and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.

The family will receive friends at 3:00-3:45pm, Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Union Grove Baptist Church, with the funeral service to follow at 4:00pm, with Pastor Steve Roberson officiating; burial immediately following in church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church, 5424 Union Grove Road, Kernersville, NC, or Hospice (Ancora) of Rockingham County, 2150 NC 65, Reidsville, NC. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
