Edna Ruth Sweat

Mrs. Edna Ruth Stone Sweat, 91, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2020. She was born November 2, 1928 in West Virginia to Cora Proffitt Stone and Robert Stone. Mrs. Sweat was a member of South Fork Baptist Church and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. She was a loving mother who loved her church and was devoted to her family. Mrs. Sweat was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Robert Seagraves; her second husband, George Prentiss Sweat and two siblings. Surviving are her two daughters, Donna Campbell of Winston-Salem and Vickie Lawrence of Clemmons; three grandchildren, John Campbell (Brittney), Brandon Campbell (April) and Joshua Lawrence; four great grandchildren and two sisters, Bobbie Shepherd and Myrtle Williams. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Francis Smith officiating. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
