Edward "Jake" Wynn Estes

KERNERSVILLE- Mr. Edward ""Jake"" Wynn Estes, 88 passed away Saturday February 8, 2014. He was born in Dyer Co. Tenn. April 22, 1925 to the late Harmon and Rosa Estes. Edward was a veteran of the United States Army in WWII. He retired from the US Army Corps. of Engineers Memphis Office. Mr. Estes was a member of Main Street Baptist Church in Kernersville. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years. Edith Hopper Estes, and a son; Michael W. Estes.

Surviving are; a daughter; Myra Willard and husband Mike of Kernersville, four grandchildren; Melissa Edwards and husband Neil, Megan Sargalis and husband Matt, Jacob Estes and friend Jennifer, and Maggie Estes ; three great grandchildren; Madalyn Kate Edwards, Jackson and Stella Estes.

A funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 PM Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Mike Willard and Rev. Wilson Harmon officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center at 101 Hospice Lane Winston Salem, NC 27101.

The family appreciates the excellent care that Jake experienced at our Kernersville Medical Center, Piney Grove Nursing and Rehab Center, and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem.
