Edward John Markushewski Sr.

Edward John Markushewski, of Winston-Salem, passed away quietly at his home on September 12, 2026.

Born in 1930 in Radzillow, Poland (now Radyvyliv, Ukraine), “Ed”, newly graduated from university and just married, settled in Winston-Salem, NC, in 1955, working first with Western Electric and retiring from Sara Lee. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Katherine Mae Markushewski (née Emerson); and his parents, Jan and Maria Przebykowska Markushewski.

He is survived by his children, Edward John Markushewski, Jr., W. Thomas Markushewski, and Katherine Markushewski Knaus, and their families; as well as his brother, Leonid Markushewski, and his family.

A funeral mass will be held 12PM Monday, September 21, 2026, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
