Edward Franklin Shutt, 84, of Clemmons was promoted to Heaven from his recent residence at Brookridge Retirement Community being surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. Mr. Shutt was born on September 20, 1934 to Charles Robert and Emma Mae Shutt in Winston-Salem, NC. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was committed to serving the Lord as a bus driver in the church bus ministry for many years and simply as a faithful servant of the Lord at Reedy Creek Baptist Church for many years. He enjoyed going out to eat and making church visits with his friends from church. He retired from Triangle Body Works in Winston-Salem and was happily married for 29 years to his wife, Johnnie, who went to Heaven in 2015. Mr. Shutt was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Kenneth Shutt. He is survived by his three children; son, Edward Ray Shutt and wife Lisa of Westminster, MD, son, Mark Timothy Shutt of Clemmons, NC, and daughter, Deborah Shutt Kiger and husband Jeff of Germanton, NC, two stepchildren; Cindy Kozerow and husband Kevin of Lynchburg, VA, and Mack Lewellyn and wife Holly of Bristol, TN; eight grandchildren, Heather Lowe, Stephen Shutt, Gabrielle Kiger, Brody Kiger, Josh Kozerow, Carissa Godwin, Emilyne Lewellyn, and Joshua Lewellyn, seven great grandchildren, Haleigh, Julie, Logan, Dusty, Eleanor, Sophia, and Alexander. Shutt is also survived by two brothers Bill Shutt (and wife Miranda) and Tommy Shutt, and two sisters, Margaret Moses and Ila Mae Lennon (and husband Billy), along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be conducted 11:00 am, Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Reedy Creek Baptist Church in Lexington, NC, with the Rev. Egbert Craven, Jr. and Dr. Ray Shutt officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday, May 17, 2019, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the wonderful nursing staff and CNAs at Brookridge Retirement Community in Winston-Salem for their exceptional care of our loved one.
